Pettersen & Hein is the shared practice of Magnus Pettersen (b. 1983) and Lea Hein (b. 1981), working together in Copenhagen since 2015. Pettersen trained as an artist at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts; Hein as a furniture designer at HDK in Gothenburg; and their work sits in the field their two educations open between them. From a studio in Albertslund, they cast by hand in concrete, steel, ceramic, and wood, using dyeing techniques in which pigment travels through the cast and settles into patterns neither of them fully controls. They keep imperfection as part of the result.
