Color Occurrence (2022) by Tronhjem Rømer is a unique, site-specific textile work, entirely hand printed in reactive dyes on wool and signed and dated by the artists. In the pictured installation, the work measures 340 × 260 × 15 cm. Suspended in long, translucent bands, the composition moves through pale yellow, blue, rust and soft neutral tones, creating a shifting field of colour that changes with light, distance and viewpoint.
For Trine Tronhjem and Liv Marie Rømer, textile is not simply a surface but a means of constructing space. In Color Occurrence, the hand-printed pattern moves between digital precision and analogue variation, appearing highly structured up close yet soft and atmospheric when experienced at scale. Functioning as a room divider, the work creates both open and closed views through the gallery, altering how the surrounding architecture is perceived. The result is less an object placed within a room than a spatial condition — one that continuously changes as the viewer moves around it.
