Innenkreis x Other Circle: Textile installation by Tronhjem Rømer and Armchair by Anton Pospischil
At the other circle, Innenkreis presents a textile presentation by the design duo Tronhjem Rømer: a digitally printed silk installation measuring 5.5 metres tall. Tronhjem Rømer built their practice around the spatial potential of printed textiles. Working with colour, pattern, and scale, they transform what is conventionally understood as surface into something atmospheric and immersive. Their large-scale installations demonstrate this transformation. Trine Tronhjem and Liv Marie Rømer, both graduates of the Royal Danish Academy, have exhibited at Designmuseum Danmark and the Biennale for Craft and Design, among others.
Innenkreis pairs the work with an armchair by Anton Pospischil, made in Vienna in 1900 and exhibited that year at the Winter Exhibition at the MAK (Museum für angewandte Kunst). The chair is in solid walnut with brown leather and brass. Its construction is architectural: a gently curved backrest, disciplined vertical slats, and a triangular stretcher that articulates the frame. It was published in Kunst und Kunsthandwerk and Das Interieur in 1901 and entered the record of Viennese design at the threshold of the Secession.
